Question / Help Window capture over game -> black region

Hey all,

I've been trying to set up a stream using OBS, but i'm having a minor issue at the moment. I want to show the viewers what song I am currently listening to, and the way I am doing it right now is to add a window capture above my game capture that surrounds the region of where my Spotify shows what song currently is playing. However, when I do this and then try to preview, it just shows a black box where the window capture is supposed to go.

Example can be seen here: http://www.twitch.tv/chrislulzz/b/403929990 (the black region on the right side of the screen)

Anyone know a solution to this problem, know what I'm doing wrong? I'm quite new to streaming and as such also to using OBS so I probably have overlooked something.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

You can´t capture Windows that are in the background of a fullscreen application if you have Windows Aero disabled. Make sure it is enabled, or you will have to run spotify on a second monitor, that should work too.

I knew that Aero has to be enabled so it is. I don't have a second monitor sadly so that is no option either...

If the region still stays black that means your game takes full focus and stops the desktop from being rendered. you could try running your game in borderless Window mode.
You can also take a look at our Guides Forum, we have a few different Tutorials on how to get the Music Title into OBS. There should be a Guide for Spotify as well.

Don't think that is the problem, 'cause I just tried to just stay on my desktop, running chrome over spotify, and even then the screen region stays black, also when I try to create it over new with spotify in focus. ><
But yeah, I'll check out the guides, I'm sure I'm just overlooking some stupid checkbox or something. :P
