Question / Help Window Capture not working with dual monitors.

Ever since I hooked up my dual monitor (beginning of January) the window capture does not work. I will just get a black box; sometimes there will be a sliver of whatever I am capturing at the bottom of the box. I never had this issue when I had a single monitor so I don't know what the issue is. I have gone online and tried every fix there is and nothing works.

If you have any suggestions on how to fix this that would be great!

I am using windows 8 and OBS is fully updated.

We using 2 monitor setup (in stretch mode, dont know if its correct name in english), one is on d-sub, second is on d-sub from converter DISPLAYPORT->d-sub. Both have different resolutions, one is panoramic second is square, we use first one to show some sites, movies etc. Second is for OBS. So far we havent any issues with this setup. Windows 7 Pro with OBS 32bit.

Is your desktop/Windows setup to span across the two monitors and use them like one large, wide monitor? Or they setup to be two separate ones? (hopefully describing that good enough lol).

If they are basically two separate ones (basically if you maximize a window and it only fills up one monitor versus two) you may have to edit the window capture and make sure it's still choosing the right window to capture (double check the properties for it) and possible set up a sub-region to make sure ti captures in the right area.

Hope this helps; post back with any further questions.

They are set up so they are two separate monitors. I discovered that sometimes with a twitch alerts window it will capture a still image of anything in front of it but its frozen. Still no fix yet.

Please post a logfile from the Help menu, Gan. Just 'upload' and paste the link here. It will give us a lot more information about your configuration, setup, and what may be happening on the back end.

Are both monitors plugged into one GPU? Or are you using one plugged into an iGPU, or a USB monitor extender-adapter or the like?

Here is the link https://gist.github.com/ba2ac340314d32abd864

Both monitors are using DVI cables I believe.

Yes, but what are those DVI cables plugged into on the other end? Are both hooked up to the GeForce 770, or is one plugged into the iGPU port on your motherboard? If one is plugged into the iGPU this is expected behavior; the fix is plugging both into your nVidia card instead.

Also, just as a note, unless you're a Partnered caster, 3500kbps is strongly advised against. It will guarantee that a majority of your potential viewership will buffer every few seconds, and as a result, leave.
Non-partnered casters are recommended not to exceed 2000kbps, which a 720p@30fps, or 480p@60fps stream will fit into very nicely. No one will stay if they're stuck in buffering hell. Most won't say a word about it either... they'll just go to another stream. One they can watch.

I fixed it!

One monitor was plugged into my motherboard and the other was my GPU.

Thank you so much for your help!
