why is my recording such bad quality?

You kept the default settings that were made for 1280x720 streaming for 2560x1440 recording. No wonder it's extremely low quality.

Switch to simple output mode, set Nvenc as encoder, and as quality "Indistinguishable quality".

yea it works pretty well now
