Why hasn't xinput for hotkeys been implemented?

Being able to use our various controllers to use OBS hotkeys would be an extremely useful feature to have. Way back during OBS Classic it seems, in this archived thread, they had actually went through and implemented it (request is marked accepted and finished)...

All the way down, moderator Jack0r's post shows githubs with source code that would be in the then current or possibly next version.

Now that we have new OBS for all this time, it does not appear we have any kind of support for our various controllers being able to use the OBS hotkeys. Couldn't/shouldn't we have this seemingly rather simple feature? What ended up happening with that request, and why didn't the feature survive into new OBS?

It is a huge pain having to manage something like autohotkey scripts (which some games anti-cheat is now detecting I hear) and stuff like joytokey (which I can't even seem to get to work properly with OBS on win10 even with everything set to run as admin mode, etc.)

I'd highly request this feature if it's at all possible... Discord is just a VOIP app and you can set your hotkeys with xinput etc. I really, really need a simple way to use my controllers, game pads, arcade sticks and flight sim controllers to have a PTT hotkey working in OBS.

Thank you very much.
