[Edit] I just narrowed down the issue: it's the preview projector that I have running. The issue must be graphics-driver related, right; I'm projecting a 1080p, 60fps video in real time. I shouldn't be surprised that it's using a lot of resources. If I close the projector, the issue straightens itself out. Does anyone know of any video driver settings I can swap around (Nvidia) to fix this? Do I need a better video card to be able to project 1080p, 60fps video while also playing games / playing web video? I have a GTX 750 Ti, which I thought would be suitable to at least project a 1080p, 60fps video while watching a 720p, 30fps video. As far as I can tell in the GPU monitor, it isn't using any resources, so I'm confused.
[Original Post] This is an issue I've been trying to resolve, with no luck, for a very, very long time. Any clues are appreciated.
When I'm watching YouTube or Twitch videos, audio and video will desync, then audio and video will completely drop, and then continue resynced -- and this happens once every few seconds. This occurs when I'm playing games on the machine, as well, but only for the audio: it'll completely drop every once and a while, on ~my~ end -- after all, OBS isn't recording OR streaming in these situations. It's just open, and idle.
CPU monitors and GPU monitors clarify that OBS is using virtually no resources (<4%).
I can resolve this issue by going into OBS's settings, then video settings, and lowering its framerate. The desyncs and drops are the worst with OBS running at 60fps -- and, at below 30fps, they pretty much completely go away. At the highest and lowest framerate settings, OBS's resource consumption hardly changes.
I would attach a log, but, again, this issue occurs even when OBS Studio is completely idle (not recording or streaming) and begins as soon as the program is launched (and ends as soon as the program is closed). Also, this is with a totally empty Scene Collection -- so it doesn't appear to be related to a webcam or anything like that.
Why would OBS Studio having a high internal frame-rate cause media to glitch out? Something... to do with the video driver...? What could be the issue with OBS... fetching frames more often? My lack of expertise leaves me clueless.
