why do i get this since the upgrade..

I am a very basic user, I managed to work out how to record from youtube and I think I even worked out how to scale the recording window as well.
But since upgrading tonight, I get this black screen and it records absolutely nothing..

HELP !.
I am on a PC running Windows 7.

why do you want to record youtube? What is your usecase?

Additionally, Windows 7 is End-Of-Life at this point. We cannot provide any support for it here, only advise that you update to Windows 10. There are ways to do this legally and for free.

I'm no fan of YouTube restrictions on downloading their videos... but their platform, their rules. Then again, for watching on airplane or other disconnected state, and other legitimate fair use concepts not supported by YT's ad-revenue model and YT's apparent willingness to abuse content creators... I'm not a stickler for strict adherence to YT's terms of service. I also don't support piracy. so, depends on use case
Regardless, there are MUCH better ways of saving/downloading YT videos than using OBS. OBS is wrong tool for what you describe
