Why did obsproject.com go down, and why did it take my livestream down?

So about 2am, here in the UK, and suddenly my in game froze, it was like uber lag, so I thought the game server i was on had crashed, then I noticed obs itself had frozen up, so when you clikc fast on it, it says program not responding box. I had to actually open task manager to close it.

Then of course tried to re-open the program and set up the stream, but it was giving some authentication error, so i tried regrabbing the twitch streamkey. Regrabbed it from twitch, but obs wouldnt load the connection page, and thats when I realised that obsproject.com was down.

So why did it go down? and why is OBS studio itself held ransom in whether or not you can stream by the uptime of a third party website? Surely the program should have not internet dependancies other than twitch being up and working?

When OBS frozen and you close via task manager (tab process?) and dont kill (tab details) you have still running frozen process in memory, before run again OBS.

Sounds like your internet went down if your game also lagged. OBS only needs to reach obsproject.com when connecting a Twitch account for the first time, as a required part of the OAuth2 connection. You can stream with a key or an existing connection without requiring a connection to obsproject.com.
