Why did OBS permanently change my speaker's audio?

I was trying to change my stream and audio settings on OBS to get rid of muffled audio on my streams and recordings, and now that same muffled audio is coming out of my actual speakers. The bass and boosted sound that I was able to hear up until about at hour ago is now gone, and I want to know why OBS has the power to permanently alter my system's audio settings?

Please disregard. The issue with my speakers was because my subwoofer had disconnected somehow. But that did make me realize the reason the audio I hear and the audio on my streams and recordings sounds so different is because of the bass from the subwoofer.
