Question / Help Which USB HD capture boxes ARE compatible with OBS?

Hi there,

Apologies if this has been answered in a previous thread. I am struggling to search the forums here. Seems it's one search every two minutes or so for me.

So the title says it all: Is there a list of compatible USB HD capture boxes ARE compatible (and work well) with OBS? I'm looking to do some Twitch streaming, and made the big mistake of buying a Roxio Gaming Capture HD Pro. The workaround for getting that working is plain horrible, and doesn't really work on my laptop anyway.

Any advice greatly received.

Thanks
Richard

I unfortunately don't have a comprehensive list of what devices are working, I only know which ones are not.

could you let me know why it didn't work too well with the roxio? i was waiting for it to go on sale for 99.99 so i could stream xbox games, seems the rest are really expensive and have the same issue at least with obs

The Roxio doesn't work well because the drivers for the device are completely proprietary and without any proper way to actually use it for capture outside of their own application.

The Black Magic shuttle thing should be working in the next release, but I can't guarantee it since I don't have one available to test it myself, and I haven't seen anyone else test it so far. AVerMedia has an upcoming USB capture device, the Live Gamer HD Portable or something like that, which does look decent.
