Question / Help Which macOS version performs best with OBS?

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that was streaming well a couple of times and the last time I was using it the encoder got overloaded. I want to do a clean install on my computer and avoid installing anything I don't need. So, go with Mohave or High Sierra...? Is there a problem with the latest OS? Is there a certain drive format to use, APFS?

Go with High Sierra, as Mojave removed APIs allowing us to use Syphon Inject on games.

I have a problem where the encoder easily gets overloaded I’m not trying to capture any gameplay actually so I wonder which OS would simply encode faster. Any thoughts on this?

In terms of encoding performance you will not see much of a difference between the two operating systems, no.
