So I've been using my friends capture card for awhile now and been wanting to get my own.
I'm torn between
Black magic intensity shuttle
AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3 (With a HDMI Splitter)

I'm new to buying capture cards so I know some things but not a lot. I'm assuming I need the Splitter for the second card because I do a monthly Smash stream with friends so I need to be able to see the game on the TV as well as the laptop I'm streaming from.

With that being said I also plan on streaming PlayStation and Xbox titles.

From the testing i made witht he following :
Avermedia Gamer HD
Avermedia LGP
Avermedia LGP Lite
Hauppage HD PVR Rocket
Elgato HD60

I would recommend avoiding the HD PVR Rocket, if your resolution is 1080P 720P or 480P ONLY you could go with the Elgato HD60. If you plan to go with other resolution, so far only the LGP and LGP lite are compatible with wierd resolution. But be careful if your resolution change, you should get the LGP as the LGP Lite have some issue at the moment.

Enjoy !

If you're stuck using a laptop, I'd recommend looking into the XCAPTURE-1. Though an Elgato HD60 should work too. Would avoid Avermedia, though that's at least partly personal bias due to their marketing practices, and how buggy most of their gear (C985 aside) tends to be.

If you need a USB based one, make sure you can do USB 3.0, or don't even bother. USB 2.0 capture devices just suck.

If you can do PCIe, then I think the Avermedia Live Gamer HD is the best value as long as you don't require 1080p60.
