when recording with obs my game lags but the output was butter smooth

help i was recording a prettty lightweight game (robeats) but when i press the start recording button and started playing the game it was lagging terribly it felt like the game was being played at 20 frames per second. but the output was butter smooth. idk how it does that but here's a log file if it helps!

Windows 10 1909
1920x1080 60hertz basic monitor
i5-8250u w/ Intel UHD Graphics 620
Nvidia GeForce MX130
8GB 2400mhz RAM single channel

1. Using Windows Update, update to Windows 10 2004 or 2009 if available per https://obsproject.com/blog/five-simple-tips-for-new-streamers
2. In Windows 10 versions 1809 and newer, we recommend that "Game Mode" be enabled for maximum gaming performance. Game Mode can be enabled via the Windows 10 "Settings" app, under Gaming > Game Mode.
3. Run OBS as admin. Right click on shortcut, properties, advanced, check box, ok, apply, ok.
4. Set your OBS FPS to 30.
5. Cap your games at 60 FPS.
