Hey all, I've been searchin the interwebs trying to figure out this issue I am having but having no success, I figured I would turn to you here at the forums to see if you knew of this issue or have had experience with this before.
Before going into any of this, I want to state that I believe this problem may be stemming from a donation tracker plug in I was/am testing out from nightdev: https://www.streamdonations.net/ . I'll explain why I think this after further explaining the situation beyond the title here.
So lately I have been having this issue that takes place once I end a stream or my stream crashes/disconnects/attempts to reconnect. When I start my stream everything seems fine, but when I stop the stream about 50% of the time it seems to shut down my computers sound. My headset doesn't, the mic in the headset doesn't, not inputting any sound not outputting any sound. In order to get my sound back I have to restart my PC, and then all is back to normal. I think I am finding too that it may be happening more frequently when I stop the stream with the "stop streaming" button rather than a hotkey set to stop my stream. While stopping the stream manually seems to have a 50% chance of shutting off all sound, when streaming abruptly disconnects in the middle of the session, it seems that the sound cuts out almost 100% of the time, if not maybe like 90% of the time, also forcing me to do a PC restart. This is a huge problem and is baffling me.
The reasons I think the plug in may be causing this is because, first of all, none of this happened prior to the addition of the plug in. Secondly, I briefly saw a message when installing the plug in that said if you get a pop up on obs with some kind of sound error (can't recall the exact error message), then to check a log file for the plug in on the desktop and adjust the settings. (even though they don't mention which settings to adjust). While testing out the plug in, the stream seemed to always work fine when I would hit "preview stream" for the first time, but when I would hit preview stream for a second or third time to try and move around some sources in my scene, I would get the sound error pop ups mentioned for the plug in.
I know all of this is wonky and bizarre but that is really all of the info I have. If anyone has any thoughts ideas or incite, I'd love to hear it, thanks guys!
EDIT:
So I just now tried hitting "preview stream", then "stop preview", then "preview stream" again, and I was prompted with the error mentioned which reads: "Cannot initialize desktop audio sound, more info in the log file." (I've no clue where this log file is located though I will do some hunting. After hitting "ok" OBS closes and all sound is lost on my PC again.... brb gotta restart.
EDIT2:
I'm finding now that every time I lose sound I can close a few programs that were up while streaming and my sound comes back. This is still troublesome since it makes me close out of games I am playing. Again sorry for all of this wackadoodle nonsense I'm just trying to understand whats happening and providing as much info as I can for anyone that might know what's going on.
