Question / Help What's wrong with Win 10 and streaming since Version 1803?

Hello dear Community,

first of all, i have to say sorry but English ist not my native language. I'm writting this in English because i hope to find a solution for a problem that exists for me since almost a year. Describing the problem is simple: From time to time and on different games i have huge FPS drops, around 20 - 40 fps while streaming.
I have already tried different thinks and solutions to solve the problem but in the end, nothing had worked to solve this problem entirely. The poblem itself occurs independently from any stream settings, game settings or software. The problem occurs in OBS and also in Xsplit.
I have already tried:

- disable Game Bar / Game Mode in Win 10
- disable all overlays from any kind of software / launcher
- use different encoder and settings - x264 / nvenc / presets and whatever
- different streaming software
- different bitrates
- different resolutions
- different PCs with enough power and ressources
- streaming via NDI or Capture Card with a second PC
- and the list goes on

In the end nothing helps to resolve the problem. In my opinion, it has to be a software side Windows 10 issue. And it started with the 1803 update last year. And i'm not alone with this kind of issue. I know 4 other streamers who have the same problem. From time to time huge fps drops, unrelated to any kind of streaming settings and technical aspects.

I hope someone know something about it.

This is a known issue. There have been tens, if not hundreds, of threads on this issue, and multiple users on this board have links to this in their .sig files and have for months.

1803 (build 17134) has a broken Game Mode feature in Windows that causes games to monopolize the GPU and starve OBS of resources. All users of OBS have been urged to update to at least 1809. In 1803 this feature is on by default and cannot be turned off except by registry editing. In a later update it was fixed.

If you're already on 1809 or higher and still have an issue, please post a logfile from a complete streaming or recording session that includes your issue.

Unfortunately the problem still exists. I'm on 1903 now and it's a complete new installation. (No Update-Installation from 1809)
I attached a log file of a short streaming session this afternoon where the problem took place again.
It's a strange thing. Sometimes i can stream for days without any problems. Then, from one day to another, the problem occurs again and I had changed nothing. No Win updates, no different obs settings or stuff like that.

Are your 3 displays running at the same refresh rate?

3 displays with different refresh rates. One is a 144 hz monitor.
