Bug Report What's left of the screen for a recording is black

So say I record a game that isn't full screen, either recording a window or a sub region, OBS fills in the rest of the monitor space with blackness.

What's up with this?

If you don't actually give OBS something to put in the black space in the preview window, it'll be black. Nothing's misbehaving.

Then how do I fix it so the only thing being recorded is a selected window or sub region?

Resize your output so it fits the content. There's a handy "set base resolution" button on window capture sources to do this for you.
