Question / Help What would be the Best Settings for Face cam

Hey guys i want to use OBS to record only my camera so later on i can add to Sony Vegas and put it in the video.
what settings should i use for recording 1280 x 720 @ 30fps for the Encoding and Advanced sections?

If you're just recording locally to add it to sony vegas, then here are the recommended settings for 720p 30fps:

Encoding settings:
CBR off
8000 bitrate/buffer
AAC (any bitrate you want)

Video settings:
1280x720 base resolution
Downscale off
30 fps

Advanced:
In "custom x264 settings", add "crf=18" (without quotes)
Enable CFR (Important for vegas, along with using AAC encoding. Note, don't confuse this with the "crf" above, that's different)

That should give you great video that's most likely more than enough.

I did this and when i played back for reviewing it i get like 10 sec of just black fotage and it comes in with lots of pixelisation and it fixes it self afew secs after

What about Quality?

Quality can be ignored because you're setting the crf value in custom x264 settings. If you're having an issue with it, show me a log file and I'll see what's going on if I can.
