What is the best format for a large animated transparent overlay in OBS?

Hi everyone,
I’m using two animated overlays in OBS, both with a resolution of 1080×1920 and a transparent background.
The original files are GIFs, one is around 26.7 MB and the other is around 44.4 MB, and I’m experiencing lag when using them in OBS.
I’m wondering what would be the best format for this type of overlay:

• GIF
• MP4
• WebM

My main requirements are:

• Keep the transparent background
• Maintain good visual quality
• Reduce the impact on OBS performance
• The animation should remain smooth

".mov" container and QTRLE encoder should work OK. But file size is huge.

In OBS this task is similar to the "Stinger" transition processing. Because the "Stinger" transition movies usually includes transparency effects, thus what works for the "Stinger" - expected to work OK for any Media source.

This may be a problem with the files. Try losslessly compressing them with FileOptimizer or rebuilding with ffmpeg. See this thread.
