What is so special about OBS 28.0.0 Beta 1?

Howdee,

Without uploading log files, does anyone know why OBS 28.0.0 Beta 1 gives me a constantly smooth preview, yet whenever I try updating OBS (and without changing any settings), the preview frame rate will drop to half after a few minutes?

I have very recently upgraded from an RX 580 to an RTX 3060, and I was excited to be able to update OBS and see what features I've been missing out on, yet to my horror, the two cameras I have (as 2 video capture devices) dropped from 50 to something that looked like 25 fps, just as it's always done with anything later than 28.0 Beta 1.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I do not game and stream, I just want OBS to record two cameras with various filters and effects.

Am I missing out on any features that aren't related to gaming and streaming?

What I will say is, that the new card was able to record decent video without any frame drops, and I think that also applies to the latest OBS.
I thought it was maybe something to do with vertical sync, but maybe not.

What am I doing wrong?

If I personally won't benefit from an updated OBS, then I guess I don't need to worry about it.

Please surprise me with a winning reply.
Cheers.

Brand new RTX 3060 (studio drivers and is running correctly)

Can anyone give me a clue to what the issue is? I want the preview to be buttery, not stuttery. I will try again in a few months or so. Shame to be forced on an old OBS version when my PC is fairly powerful now.

Is there a way I can pay for help? Getting down in the dumps over this. I am trying to use source record, but struggling with that too, and it's not good I am stuck on OBS 28. I love OBS when it works perfectly, but it takes so many hours out of my life trying to solve issues with it. I tried about 5 most recent versions of OBS last night, and they all massively drop frames on the preview, but OBS 28 Beta 1 runs like butter. Why??

Regards the source record: I have two cameras and one media source, but I want to record the two cameras only, in one video in split-screen. Source record won't play nice and it crashes when trying to use Nvenc H.264.

Not sure how else to solve my issues.
