Question / Help What is NVENC?

Hey guys,
I've been hearing a lot about NVENC since the last couple updates but can't seem to understand what that is exactly.
Looking around in the forums I couldn't find a topic explaining what that is and how to use it.
I'm pretty curious because I have an NVDIA GPU and this option may be useful for my streams.

Cheers.

Do you know what QSV (Quick Sync Video) is? It's the same concept as that. It will use special dedicated hardware to encode to free up your CPU as x264 can be pretty heavy. NVENC will use a special chip on Kepler+ GPU's generally 600 series and higher to handle all the encoding. All you have to do is installed the latest drivers from Nvidia, and see if you can enable NVENC if you have a card capable to use it.

The quality will NOT be as good as x264 with exact settings. It is good if you don't have enough CPU cycles or the game is simply too demanding. I personally use NVENC for local recordings sometimes. Just test it out and see if you like the end result.
