Question / Help What is more important, GPU or CPU Cores?

I want to stream non gaming screen sharing, mic and cam. I have an intel 3770k which has 4 cores and 32 GB of ram. This is non gaming but the display is 4k downsampled to 1080p and recording an mp4 as well. I have a garbage GPU so I am debating a new rig, maybe even AMD because of the additional cores.

I was wondering how much my GPU would impact this? I could get something cheap like an GeForce 610 that would do 4K with 2GB or ram or does even non gaming (Photoshop etc) need a heavy GPU?

edit: I meant 710 (does 4K)

Saving directly to mp4 is strongly not recommended.

You'd need a lot more gpu than a GT610 to do 4k recording.

Thanks for the quick reply, what format is better to save at?
Also, I am downsampling to 1080p, not trying to stream or record at 4k. Im just saying the screen resolution is 4k. Goal since it is just drawing is 1080p @30fps stream and record.

Also, stealth edit. I meant 710.

Record to FLV or MKV. If you record to MP4 and the recording is interrupted, the file will be corrupted and unrecoverable. If you require MP4 files for some other purpose like editing, remux them afterwards by selecting File > Remux Recordings in the main OBS Studio window.

You'll likely want a GTX class card for what you want to do.
