What is Intel's Multi-Format Codec Engines?

Is it the engines that is actually providing QuickSync feature?

I just find out that UHD 730 on my i3 12100 has only 1 codec engines but UHD 770 has 2.
I am thinking that it is the engines that providing QuickSync feature. If yes, it means that
my understanding that all QuickSync perform exactly the same from budget i3 to flagship i9
was all wrong because 2 codec engines means faster encode/decode performance, yes?

Please share your knowledge here. Thanks!

Correct, the UHD770 will outperform the UHD730. If you're only encoding a single stream, you will be fine but multiple concurrent encodes may cause lag. FWIW, I use my UHD770 to encode 4k, 1080p & 720p streams concurrently with utilization right around 55%.

it means that in single encoding task, my encoding speed with UHD 730 is completely the same with UHD 770? multiple codec engines will only matter on concurrent encoding task, yes?

Doubtful but we're talking ms's here. It will also be slightly slower at decoding material as well so no, overall performance will be lower.
