Question / Help what do i have wrong? OBS wont recorde incoming audio.

ok, i got a C985 capture card earlier this week for dual pc streaming, and ive connected all the cables as described/ instructed. i get video just fine, but for what ever reason, audio just doesn't seem to capture in OBS, or Xsplit. as ive tested, i have my gaming computer mirroring the main video out, over the HDMI connection, and audio is run through a 3.5 aux cable which is run from the center out on the gaming pc, through a simple slitter, which i tested and it functions properly, 1 out goes to my computer speakers, and the other goes to the AUX in on the C985. ive tested with the RECentral that comes with the product, and that seem to work fine, but its not as feature rich as OBS, or xsplit. so what have i goofed on here? any help to give?

Try using a line-in on your sound card. The Aux in on the Avermedia devices is known to be bad. Usually its just low quality, not no sound at all, but still, I'd try the line in on whatever sound card you have instead.
