Question / Help Webcams Not Appearing in OBS

As of late, both of my webcams have been unresponsive in OBS alone. This only started happening after patch 20.0 came out. When using the software, I am trying to use two webcams to stream, but they will not function. They add perfectly fine in the settings, but once added, I get a grey screen and they don't appear. I have tried to update my drivers, uninstall and reinstall OBS, wipe my computer, reinstall newer driver versions of the webcams, etc. Nothing has worked. Please assist. This is incredibly frustrating.

Yes, but I only have Windows defender. I have checked all the settings within it, and nothing is blocking it...

Let's try some troubleshooting steps and see if we can figure out what's going on.

First, create a new Scene Collection (Menu at the top of OBS, not just a new scene). Call it "Test" and then add only one of your webcams. Leave it at the default settings, and let me know if it opens properly.

Unfortunately, it did not open correctly. It left a small red square in the corner, almost as if it was to adjust the size, but never opened. If you try to adjust the size, it disappears.

I have tried this Harold, but nothing happens. It just expands the box. It doesn't allow me to see any video from the cam.

After trying everything short of reverting back to an older version of the software, I ended up doing just that. I am currently running version 18.0.0 and it is working just fine. Tested it 10 times and rebooted my computer to confirm. Seems to be working well now. Here is a poorly taken picture of my success, and it looks like there is definitely a patch issue unfortunately..

If it works on an older version, that reeks of rogue antivirus blocking the webcam from working properly. No code for video capture devices was change between 18 and 20.1.

Glad it's working, though!

This issue can be resolved by allowing OBS to use webcam under the restrictions for Apps in your antivirus. Sometimes antivirus restricts OBS to use webcam for security reasons.

Hope this will solve your problem.
