Question / Help Webcam & mic delay

Last night I streamed for a good 6 hours and on watching it back on Twitch today I noticed that there is a delay between my mic and webcam that gets worse as the stream progresses. Looking back through past streams I see it's always been the case. By the end it's about half a second off which doesn't sound like much but I would find that a little distracting as a viewer. It also happens on my stream partner's webcam that I am piping through OBS via Skype. Game sound is fine, no syncing issues there, just webcams.

I have changed OBS settings today to have my mic set up to sync via the webcam instead of using the mic as a standalone device, haven't tested that yet but I'm wondering if that's even the issue since the delay problem also affects my stream partner who is not using OBS. Is there another reason this is happening to both of us? I would say it's Twitch but I've watched plenty of long streams that do not have a delay problem.

Log attached. Thanks.

sync audio to video does not fix webcam/mic sync issues. setting your mic audio offset is the best way to go. since your mic is usb this might or might not work.

I'll have to try that on my end then, but what about my stream partner also being desynced? I'm targeting Skype via a screen region in OBS, I have no control at all over his mic. Is there something he could do on his end? We looked at all the settings in Skype and there's nothing to delay his mic, similarly in Windows there is nothing either.

so wait, just viewing over skype hes desync'd or viewing his cam over stream is de-sync'd. because once you get it "tuned" with the desktop audio, that should sync up as well

No over actual Skype he's fine, viewed through OBS he gets desynced over time just like I do, although it seems not quite as bad as me. I tried tuning the video with audio but I can't get it to a point where I like it. The issue really is that at the very start of the stream the video/audio is fine (default, without mic delay), but it desyncs over several hours. If I apply any delay to the audio through OBS, at the very start of the stream the audio is now slightly desynced but will become better as the stream progresses. Which is really just causing the opposite of the problem I have now.

I've watched other streamers and noticed that they too have mic audio desync most of the time, even some of the top streamers, so I'm starting to live with the idea that this is just something that happens. To be honest after a 6 hour stream the desync isn't terrible, but just enough that I notice it and as an anal-retentive perfectionist it's been bothering me :) But I'm not sure now if there's really a "fix". Perhaps being a Twitch partner helps? I know that as a non-partner I'm not afforded some of the luxuries the partners get in terms of stream quality.

Also are we sure this is audio desync and not video? My webcam isn't the greatest quality, if I had one of those expensive hi def 1080 cameras like some of the popular streamers do would I still have this problem?

Raise your scene buffering to around the amount of delay. maybe start at 1500ms. adjust the mic and global offsets back to 0 and make adjustments from there.
