Question / Help Webcam Logitech C920 image goes drifting with time ( lag )

When I start OBS it's ok. Some 10 to 20 minutes later I notice a great lag in the image. I move the arms and I see that the image is not instantaneous and goes worse with time. I already set to custom, and fps is around 29 something ( the standard ). What could cause it ? USB lag ? How to solve ? I already checked changing to all USB ports with no help. Would it has something to do with audio sync ? I use an external mic external interface.

Thanks for any help

In order to solve this lag momentarily, I have to reset camera settings, I choose another resolution and go back to 720p. It returns no normal. Periodically I have to do that.

what is the FPS you recording and what ist the FPS os the Cam?
If you can, tell us your settings of your webcam in OBS.
Did you use the USB3 Port?

Thank you for trying to help me. My webcam config is Logitech C920, in OBS it's configured as 1280 x 720, resolution custom, 29,97 fps ntsc, mjpeg, yuv color default, yuv color range partial, buffering enable, audio device external, and plugged at USB 2.0 .

Well, yes and no. There's a ton of info out there on why NTSC is what it is but you're not broadcasting to a TV are you? If not, then I would stick with 30fps as that's primarily what the 'environment' dictates. I'm sure someone else can chime in with more relevant info but in the interim, try it and see if you still see the delays.

I´ll try 30. My be it produces a round 30 frames, who knows ? Let´s see... I´ll post the results later.

Thanks !

I´m back. Changing FPS to 30 didn´t solve.
In 20 minutes or less, I notice a lag. As time passes, it gets worse. Then I reset camera. It´s not a camera problema, I tested on another softwares, it´s normal.

Please try an USB 3 Port. YUV Color 709 and no buffering. FPS you can try the option "highest possible".
Maybe its the buffering.

Thank you Toastfalter. I don´t trust these USB 2.0 for high demands on webcams, and there are several periferals connected. There may be some bottleneck. I´ll try USB 3.0, besides, I didn´t read any reccomendations from Logitech to use it, nor C920 is a USB 3.0 compatible webcam. Let´s see. I hope it works.

Thank you !

Before i got my Logitech Brio i had a 920 too.
I connected it to the USB3 port the hole time.
I think the buffering of the webcam in OBS is also a problem. Plz make a try without buffering too.
