My webcam (logitech c920) is fine until I add a game capture. After that it becomes choppy and stutters. Any ideas how to fix this?

PC Specs-
  • Windows 10 pro
  • i7-6700k
  • 16 GB RAM

i have a different webcam - but u can try to force your webcam into a mod where it doesnt lag -> remove all auto settings and set it properly for you ;)

OR do u use CPU h264? maybe reduce webcam resolution -> because HD causes more load on CPU

I've tried removing all auto settings and reducing the resolution. Here are the setting i'm currently on,
  • Resolution - 1024x576
  • FPS - 30
  • Format - MJPEG
  • YUV color space - defualt
  • YUV color range - full
  • Buffering - disabled

vastly reduce resolution - i use 424x240 (but can use 720p with 30FPS)

use configure Video - remove all auto-settings - play around with exposure // i dont have that cam so i cant provide better info about how to set it properly

Ok I turned my webcam down to 424x240 and also turned off right lighting and still the same. I noticed thought that its only lagging when the game is actually up on my second monitor. If I have the game capture going but the game is minimized, it doesn't stutter

well your CPU should be able to pull enough frames of game and webcam - uninstall driver for webcam - reboot - install driver again // and usually a c920 should run 30fps fine with 720p // what game u try?

Squad, Total War Attila, and Overwatch so far. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them. I have also followed the guide above and still the issue persist. Here is a video showing the problem (sorry for the beep in the background)

total war kills nearly every cpu - plus a webcam with hd brings it to its knees // try with a light game first

ps i use 424x240 30fps on MS LifeCam HD-3000 and have FX-8150 @4.5GHz - results in around 2%CPU -> with webcam @720p30 i have 6%

- try to use a Hardware Encoder and check again

From the log, it looks like you're just barely overloading your GPU, causing the stuttering. You might need to turn settings down in the game to ease up resources a bit, or cap FPS there if you haven't already.
