Hi everyone,
I’ve been streaming for 5 years with no issues, but starting in early March 2026, I noticed my webcam started lagging in OBS — this was before the new NVIDIA drivers were released, so it’s not caused by them.
Setup:
PC: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, NVIDIA RTX 3060, MSI G242 monitor
OBS: NVENC encoder
Webcam: Logitech C920 (1080p30), plugged directly into a red USB 3.0 port on the back of the motherboard
Stress/Monitoring Tools: OCCT, UNIGINE Benchmark, HWMONITOR – all report healthy system performance
Issue:
When I wave or move my hand in front of the camera, motion is slow to catch up — the video stutters.
This mostly happens after shaders finish optimizing and I start playing a game like Warzone or GTA V.
Works fine before gaming or heavy GPU load, so it seems tied to OBS + NVENC + GPU usage.
Questions:
Has anyone seen similar webcam lag in OBS under high GPU load?
Are there settings or tweaks in OBS that can fix slow-motion webcam during games?
Could this be a driver, Windows, or OBS-specific issue even though my PC passes stress tests?
Any advice or ideas would be really appreciated!
