Webcam focus adjustment

Hello everyone,

I've got a problem with my cheap no-brand 4K webcam from Amazon a few years ago. I can't get it to focus on my face. Instead, it is focusing on the back of my chair. I can't seem to get any kind of autofocus to adjust at all. Seems like it's just stuck there. Every resource I've found says to look at the camera controls for the focus setting. Unfortunately, all the options on the Camera Control tab are greyed out and not adjustable.

The hardware ID tells me it's made by a company named Microdia. Checked them out but couldn't find a solution, or even a ware to contact them for help.

Are there any other options I haven't found yet that will allow me to adjust the focus on this camera?

are you sure you CAN adjust focus on that webcam... cheap webcam with fixed focus is/was a thing

Does the webcam auto-focus as you desire in other apps?

No. It's the same no matter what app I'm using.
I was wondering if there is some generic camera software that would have more advanced settings. The camera didn't come with any software or directions to download software. Maybe there's a plugin that can make up for what I'm lacking here and compensate for the focus problem.

unlikely there is a software fix to a hardware limitation. most likely it is a fixed focus lens... if you want a lens that can focus, you probably need to buy a new webcam that is capable of such

Yeah, I figured as much. Any suggestions for an affordable HD webcam? Mostly for meetings.

There are LOTS of possibilities - a recommendation would depend on budget and requirements (what is affordable to some is not to others).
