Bug Report Webcam Deactivates on new OBS Studio Open

It seems everytime I close OBS Studio my Webcam (Logitech c920) Video capture device I've set up disables.
So I have to add a new Video Capture Device with the same webcam and put it in all my scenes again.
This is extremely frustrating and I don't know the cause. I have no issue using OBS Classic with this Webcam.
Anyone able to help?

Here's a pic of what I see opening it up with an already pre-made scene with a pre-made Video Capture Device of my Webcam set. It displays nothing (the webcam doesn't even turn on)

I have the same issue here with a B910 (and I have another B910 on the way). I find that if there's no video feed, I can activate it by right clicking on the capture device name and changing something in the properties. Still a bit of a pain, though. Definitely an intermittent issue as well. I'm hoping the dual camera setup won't be too much of a headache.

From what I've seen, two Logitech cameras will pretty much guarantee headaches, especially if they're the same model.

Logitech Software only can handle ONE C920 and not TWO...While two can be used only one can be controlled.
I tried to solve this for myself for over a year both in OBS and Xsplit and never could get C920's to play well together.

I ended up buying a Microsoft Life Cam Studio and use that with my C920 with no problems because it uses Microsoft drivers and software.

I also have the LWS software disabled because when booting my system it sometimes took control of my C920 and it wouldn't show in OBS. I just use the basic Logitech webcam controller by clicking on CONFIGURE VIDEO in OBS Webcam properties.

I read another post where someone claimed to be using four C920s without issue, but the problem seems to be controlling individual cameras (manual focus, etc). I plugged the B910 into a second PC last night (other machine has LWS) and let the UVC driver install (no LWS) and OBS still comes up with a black screen half the time. I'll have the two cameras on different USB controllers to free up bandwidth, but aside from this I'm not sure what to expect.

Should be fun, anyway...

Well Flash, it doesn't matter how many controllers they are on..LWS only will recognize one of them...
I think the thread you are talking about was one that I was involved in..

I have tried all these but they are more trouble then they are worth. But check it out...Maybe it'll work for you.

Good workaround in the video, but with luck I might get away with running both cameras with stock settings, or at least by tweaking what's available in UVC driver settings without installing LWS at all.

Thanks for all the info so far - it's really appreciated. I should add that despite the odd quirk I encountered so far, OBS is pretty amazing. :)

Well, it worked. C910 turned up and I connected it to the USB 2.0 bus on the PC with LWS installed, and put the B910 on the USB 3.0 controller. Both showed up in OBS and PIP even works without frame drops. Furthermore, I can adjust the settings on each camera individually via Sources->Camera name->Properties->Configure video. The LWS settings screen appears with the appropriate camera name at the top. The last part is very surprising given other people's experiences. Didn't even need the CamControl tool.

Maybe OBS received an update which made things click, but one factor could be that the two cameras have different model numbers (although the hardware is identical). In any case, I understand you can change the device name by editing the registry even if the cameras had identical names. If I can reproduce this setup on a second PC (thereby proving it's not a fluke), I'll make a video about it... PIP of course. ;)

Well flash, my only experience is using C920's...
I bought a Microsoft Life cam Studio cam and use that with my C920 because they are different companies and software and that works fine for me.

Update:

I set up the second PC and everything was working great aside from the Logitech branded camera properties appearing for one camera and a generic one for the other camera. This was no problem, but I started getting BSODs and I traced them back to the driver for one of the cameras. Did some Googling and apparently a driver update was supposed to solve it, so I forced an update on both in Device Manager and one driver actually updated and the BSODs have gone away. I now get two Logitech branded camera properties dialogs (each with the correct camera name at the top) and aside from zooming apparently being reluctant to work (which I don't use anyway), everything else works 100 per cent fluently and I couldn't be happier. ;)

Now - ever the glutton for punishment - I then decided to see what I could accomplish under MacOS Sierra and so far I'm still stuck at getting either camera to go above 720p in OBS. As soon as I untick "Use Preset", the camera powers off. Quicktime and VLC can both capture the Logitechs at 1080p... but this deserves a topic of its own.
