Hi, I just recently purchased my first gaming rig and am looking to become a regular streamer. I still need some insight though on which direction to go for the webcam. I have spent more than my budget on the computer itself so I am looking for something that won't break the bank (preferably <$50) but will still give good quality video. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would recommend Logitech C920 camera. Its really the best webcam on the market right now IMO. Its $99 but you can get 1080p @ 30fps out of it.

I'd second the Logitech c920. Just don't put it in a USB3.0 port (quite a number of people reporting glitchiness when plugged into one, doesn't have any of the extra 3.0 pins, is somewhat false-billed as '3.0-compatible' as 3.0 is backward-compatible with USB 2.0, which the c920 is).

Here's a link to LethalFrag's Amazon clickthrough; support a streamer, and it's the cheapest I was able to find (got mine for $72, but appears the price has come up slightly since then to $80... still cheaper than any of the other places I was looking):
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Widescre ... 960-000764)

Definitely would say that it's *the* best webcam out there at the moment, without going to a full-on professional rig (and adding at least one zero to the end of that $80).

Thanks for the replies but if I could I would like to stay cheaper than those two...I found this camera that is $50 originally but reviews were all positive and one even said they liked it more than the C920.

Would this work with OBS? As for streaming basics because I'm new...how do most people get their image on the stream overtop of the game in the little box down in the corner typically?

"this camera". I'm not familiar with that webcam. Could you possibly provide its name before asking us if it will work with OBS?

For basics, check the guides section.
Quickstart guide: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=410 The video tutorial linked there is especially useful.

Anything will work. Even a cheap, crappy $15 webcam if all you want is a stuttery slideshow. I learned this the hard way.
If you want top-shelf quality? Spend out. The c920 is totally worth the price.

Not anything will work. Some webcams don't support any of the OBS supported video formats. I personally have the c270, which has a lower resolution, but still looks very good in my opinion, but of course, the c920 is better.
