Question / Help Way to stream with music without it being recorded?

I wasn't sure how to correctly title this, so let me go into more detail. I'm wanting to stream video games with OBS while listening to Spotify with my viewers, but I will also be recording that footage for YouTube with OBS to where I can't have copyright material due to my partnership, but I still need to record the game audio along with my microphone. I hope that makes sense.

So is there a way to stream with the Spotify music playing, but somehow have it excluded in the recording? I have a way to work around it, but if I could do it through OBS it would be fantastic!

Sorry if this has been posted before - I couldn't find it when searching.

Thanks in advance!

Nope. Not with how the Windows audio subsystem works.

You can use VB-Audio/VAC and two copies of OBS (one for stream, one for local recording) with separate virtual audio chains for each, but that's pretty complex to set up.

Really best to just not stream copyrighted music that you don't have a license to use (paying for Spotify doesn't give you that license); especially as while Twitch isn't going to enforce it, it still leaves you open to a lawsuit from any copyright holder who finds out.
