Visibility Behavior Clarification

I have multiple cameras I'm pulling in via RTSP, each in its own scene. I have the Visibility Behavior for each VLC source set to "always play". This is only so I can see them in the Preview window in Studio Mode before pushing it to Program. Does that mean, as suggested, that all the camera streams are being played in the background? If so, is there a way to see the the stream to play in Preview without "always play" being set?

Just giving this a bump.

I switched everything to "stop when not visible" and the encoder lag issues have all but stopped. But I still wonder if there's a way to force an RTSP stream to preview without turning on "always play".
