Question / Help Virtu MVP?

Hello!

I have a build with the following specs:

Code:
Summary
		Operating System
			Microsoft Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
		CPU
			Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz	49 °C
			Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
		RAM
			8,00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 652MHz (9-9-9-24)
		Motherboard
			ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT (LGA1155)	35 °C
		Graphics
			LED Cinema (2560x1440@59Hz)
			Intel HD Graphics 4000
			NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
		Hard Drives
			224GB OCZ-VERTEX3 (SSD)	30 °C
			1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 (SATA)	35 °C
		Optical Drives
			No optical disk drives detected
		Audio
			Realtek High Definition Audio

The LED Cinema display only has a Mini DisplayPort-cable, and therefore I'm connecting it to the Thunderbolt-port on the motherboard. From what I've heard, I need to use Virtu MVP to be able to use my NVIDIA-card when a screen is connected to the integrated card, please correct me if I'm wrong.

From what I've seen, a lot of people discourage the use of Virtu MVP, since it may cause issues (I have a few games I can't get it working, and the solution on forums are always "don't use Virtu MVP"). But from what I've seen, I don't seem to have a choice with this setup if I don't want to buy a new screen?

Anyways, to my actual problem: I can't figure out if/how I can record games that are running in fullscreen. Most games I'm running in a borderless window (like Starcraft 2 and Dota 2) and on those I just use Window Capture. But some games, like League of Legends, seems to get pretty poor performance when I run anything other than fullscreen.

I've tried to record LoL with both Monitor Capture- and Game Capture-sources, but all I get is the sound and a black screen.

Do anyone have any suggestions on how I could work around this issue?

Regards,
Marcus

If you absolutely have to use it, best suggestion I could probably give is use window capture with the "compatibility mode" option but I'm not sure whether or not that would have problems either with VirtuMVP.

However I would advise finding a way around having to use VirtuMVP instead if possible. You should never "need" to use it honestly.

Jim: tried your suggestion but the game wouldn't even show up in the window-list.

Regarding VirtuMVP, if anyone have any other suggestions I'm all ears. I'm very happy with this screen so I don't want to replace it. Right now it feels like I need it though, unless I want to play games on the integrated GPU (which I don't).

If you're connecting it through the iGPU then you will have no choice but to use VirtuMVP which is complete garbage.

The cheapest way to getting out of this mess is to look for a Mini Display/Thunderbolt to DVI converter. They aren't expensive and if you look it up, you should be able to find some and possibly near you.

You can't capture fullscreen games with window capture, which is probably why it didn't show up on the list. You'll have to run it in a windowed/borderless mode.
