Question / Help Videos not getting 60 FPS.

Heya guys!

I've been recording for a while now and as I find the quality of the videos I record to be just fine I still lack the consistent framerate. It says in OBS that it stays on the 60FPS mark, but it clearly doesn't run as smooth in the videos when I watch them. I record at 1080p 60FPS, while I play the game at 144hz capped at 150fps.

My specs are:
5820k 4,4GHz
GTX 1080 2,1GHz
16GB RAM

THe problem shouldn't be my specs, but who knows.
I'll post more if necessary.
What do you need to help me with this? :)

Thanks!

additionally check this list to avoid some common pitfalls

1. 60hz desktop refresh
Replace with 59,94 for display like HDMI TV
If you have 144hz monitor its fastest and most reliable to forget about 144hz and follow 1,2,3,4
2. 60 or 30 in OBS (59,94 or 29,97 for HDMI TV)
3. 60 in game if there is switch for it (like bf3, bf4, overwatch) - 59,94 for HDMI TV
4. Enable vsync in game
5. Run obs as administrator
6. Enable high performance mode in windows power options
7. On Win10 disable game mode, game bar and game DVR https://i.imgur.com/7CVH7c5.png
8. Make sure your gpu can do stable 60fps in game without being maxed. OBS needs some of gpu resources as well. If you did points 1+4 and its still maxed lower resolution and/or details.
9. Install Afterburner (or pure RTSS+HW Info) to monitor cpu/gpu load and start experimenting with tuning resolution / fps / x264 preset. GPU/CPU load should not exceed 85-90%

not cure-alls. it covers most of setup/config issues. most probably OPs issue is common 144hz monitor / 60hz recording mismatch

Remove all but one of your game capture sources. They can and do trip over each other.
Make sure game mode is OFF in windows' settings.
Put a FPS cap in your games close to the refresh rate of your display.

And you REALLY shouldn't be saving directly to mp4.

In recording settings it says my recording format is MP4! Isn't that what you meant?
My refreshrate in games are at 150, close to 144.
All capture sources are removed except the single one I'm using now.
Should I CPU encode or GPU encode?
Game mode off

Thanks!

FLV or MKV.
If you need an mp4 for editing, use file - remux recordings to change the format after you're done.
