Video settings help please

New to OBS and capturing / recording. My initial interest is to be able to record a short segment with low video file size so the file can be sent via text.
I do not like sending or receiving a link, say to YouTube, because you have to sign in to view it.
Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am 78 and this is new territory for me so please keep your replies non-technical.

OBs isn't the right tool for you, it's too complex.

Instead, use the snipping tool that comes with Windows 11. If you initiate a screenshot with the PRINT key, you can choose to record small video snippets in addition to just a screenshot image since some Windows update last year. Then use some website to cut, resize and shrink the resulting video.
