video recording stutters

so ive been trying to record some gameplay for a while, but every video I record has a stutter that i cant seem to get rid of. I dont have the best cpu but i never had this issue before, and I used to be able to record gameplay fine. Ive tried lowering every setting and even running the auto configuration wizard

Upgrade your OBS to the current version. You're running an ancient version. The recording itself is flawless - you don't have any lost or lagged frames due to encoder overload.

was that really it? i forget to update things if they work fine in their present state so thanks for letting me know
