Video recording not working - new user today

Trying to record video and audio in my browser. Audio works - video doesn't. I tell it to start recording and start virtual camera. Must be missing something else. Help. Thanks

did you actually tell obs to capture something?

"Start virtual camera" and "start recording" only tell obs to do those specific things, which are separate from capturing.
