Question / Help Video Quality

Hey guys,

Assuming I want to stream at 720p/60fps on a fast game such counter strike.

my hardware will consist of:
cpu: 4790k overclocked to 4.6 - 4.7ghz~
8gb ram
ssd

5mb upload (bitrate set to 3 - 3.3k)

would my gpu hold me back? it's currently a 580gtx 1.5gb version. budget doesn't allow for gpu to be upgraded at the time.

I would probably recommend to limit the fps output of CS, for example to 100 or 120 fps. But I believe it should work just fine. Your CPU should be powerful enough for 720p and 60fps while doing cs.
Did you do any tests yet? A log file can tell us a lot on how your recordings went.

Totally off topic, how is that 4970k holding up at 4.7ghz overclock? What are your temps like under load? Thinking real hard about upgrading to one...

thanks guys, i currently cap my fps in game to 121 as my monitor is a 120hz. no tests yet as my current rig is under water and im waiting on some parts before i migrate the cpu and mobo over.

i guess what im really hesitating is that the upgrade won't be much noticeable over my current 4.3ghz i5 2500k and 580 gtx. my i5 is the absolute worst over clocker i've ever used so there's no going beyond my current clock without a substantial increase in volts and heat.

just wanted some input in regards to how big a role the video card plays towards stream quality. i know the bulk of it is in your connection speed and your cpu for smoothness. but where does the gpu come into play? is it better to leave the new cpu + mobo out while i save up more money for a 770/780? im reluctant to just jump in right away before tearing down a custom water loop takes a lot of time for maintenance and ordering parts.

edit - also wanted to throw in, will a stronger video card enable me to not need quick sync? or will the hyperthreading of the 4790k alleviate the stress of streaming. i find that it lowers the iq a lot but does smooth out streaming.... kind of like a double edged sword :/

The GPU doesn't affect the actual quality of the images themselves. However, a slow GPU could make the recording stuttery if it was really slow. The GPU is used in combining all the sources together into a single image that gets sent to the encoder.
