Question / Help Video only works in VLC

I'm a bit new to OBS, so I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. I've set up OBS with Window Capture as the Source. When I click Preview Stream, it seems to be working fine, but when I hit Start Recording, the resulting mp4 does not display any video (just audio) in QuickTime (or Windows Media Player). More importantly for my purposes, the video does not display in Pro Tools (audio software), which relies on QuickTime. The file does work in VLC, however, which leads me to believe it is just a matter of not having the right video format/codec or something along those lines...? Am I using the wrong settings, or is there a way for me to convert this file so it can be played by QuickTime?

Thanks for any help.

If the video works in VLC then it works. You'll need to determine which part of the video file your software doesn't support (container format, audio codec, video codec) and use one that it does support, or remux/re-encode your file to use it.

Common sources of failure with lesser quality players and NLEs are: not using constant frame rate, using too high of a bitrate (or too low of a quality setting), not using AAC audio encoding, saving in flv instead of mp4 (or vice versa).
