Question / Help Video is shifted

I'm trying to make a video in 720p on my laptop with a 1920x1080 screen resolution. I'm using Windows 8.1 and have an intel i5 graphics unit. I can't use 1080p because it takes too much GPU to process it. Despite that, my video seems shifted about 128 pixels up and to the left, and I can't figure out what to do to fix it.

Right click your game capture source, open the properties and tick the "Stretch image to screen" checkbox or set your base resolution to 1920x1080 and use the "Resolution Downscale" option under "Video" in the settings instead of changing your base resolution to 1280x720.

huh, it was set to my monitor size (1536x864), I'll set it back to 1280x720, but I thought I set it to that... strange

the 1536x864 was set in custom settings, my bad

and the stretch image to screen setting was already applied

Found the problem. It was the capture size, I'll make sure it is set properly each time I use OBS

new problem, I found out 720p records only half my screen and when I try 1920x1080, it records the whole screen, but it's all in the top left corner. What do I need to do to fix it?

You said in the first post that your laptop had a 1920x1080 screen resolution, but now it's 1536x864?

Set your base resolution to your monitor size, or to the resolution of the game you're capturing and use Resolution Downscale to adjust the size of the final output. If sources appear "in the top left corner" try right clicking them and select "Fit to screen" from the Position/Size sub menu.
