Question / Help video importing to premier with a weird pixel aspect ratio?

Hey guys,

Just started using OBS and absolutely love it. Only software that i can seem to find that delayswebcam and mic for console game capture delays, love it!.

The only thing thats got me puzzled and i cant seem to find a solution or option is, the video file always imports to premier with a pixel aspect ratio thats not 1.

As of now, i use my elgato software for game recording, and OBS strictly for webcam and mic use. I have my webcam and obs video set for 1280x720 and the webcam image is positioned to fit the screen and as little encoding as possible so premier doesnt work too hard during the edit phase...but for some odd reason it always has a pixel aspect thats not 1 and i need to tell premier to force pixel aspect to 1 to fix this issue only on that video file. Im almost certain its not premiers fault considering elgato videos import just fine.

Any ideas?

Just gave it a test, and could not reproduce your problem. Pixel aspect ratio is 1.0 and everything works fine.
I would assume its a problem with your used codecs probably.

Hmmm...interesting, thanks for the reply and time it took to test it. Would you happen to know how i can fix this? Are we talking codecs within premier or OBS? Because OBS video plays in a proper pixel aspect ratio when i view the output file. But the moment it hits premier the pixel aspect is altered...so i guess that does make premier the issie lol...my bad. How would i possibly fix this?

I can only say that I use the K-Lite codec pack, mega version, with the option "lots of stuff". It currently uses LAV for mp4 encoding if I remember correct. You could try installing the same package, see if that fixes the error for you.
