Trying to show MP4 videos created by a friend on his Mac. The latest one was created in iMovie combining video from his iPhone with video from another person's Android phone to make a typical COVID-era musical duet. He also added a brief title overlaid on the video near the start. It was exported from iMovie in MP4 format.
This video plays perfectly both in Preview on a Mac, and with Windows movie player. But when it is used as a Media source (local file) with OBS on Windows 10 (both latest versions) only the video from the iPhone is visible. The titles and the split-screen video from the Android phone do not appear. The video settings include auto start from the beginning when it becomes active, and show nothing after it ends.
Sound from the two source videos was merged in iMovie and played normally. But for another similar video made a week ago, there was no sound through OBS though it was there in Windows video player.
One time I did get the whole video to show using OBS. And that time I also got a progress bar and stop/start button that let me advance through the video. But I have not been able to reproduce that success.
Probably this is partly user error on my part. But there may also be a limitation in OBS. I hope that there is a work-around, perhaps with iMovie settings that are more compatible with OBS.
