Video didn’t record

I just recorded a video a few minutes ago and thought that it had recorded. Do I have to close out obs every time to make sure that the video I’m trying to record is in the screen with the red lines? Or is there another way around this? It had a still frame of a video hat I hadn’t recorded but was just watching in general, while the video that I thought was recording, wasn’t there. Sound is good and me recording myself is good. I just don’t know how to input the next video to be recorded. It didn’t record my screen. Just the obs screen with the still frame. Ty in advance.

What app are you using to play the videos? I am recording videos that are in Safari, so I've been successful with choosing Screen Record for the Scene and macOS Screen Capture for the Source. Then, in Properties, select Application Capture for the Method and then Safari (or whatever app you're using) for the Application. See if this works.
