Hello,
This may (and probably) not an OBS issue that I describe but I would like to have feedback on the config you use to capture video and audio stream ...
Note I'm not using streaming features, I'm only recording. So I have a very basic use of obs.
I'm actually using an old config with windows10 + a i7-6700T + a H110 mainboard (asrock) + an avermedia LGX capture device (usb) + 32 Gb RAM. This setup is working perfectly to capture hdmi 1080p60 video/audio (60000kbs using QSV hardware encoding). As the setup is stable I'm still running an old version oof obs on it (20.1.1)
I wanted to build another recorder computer to give the 4k recording capabilities, so I went for a similar setup : windows10 + a i5-9600k + a H370 mainboard (asrock) + 32 Gb RAM + the PCI avermedia 4k capture card GC573. (using OBS 25)
This setup is working perfectly for video but audio is awful ... screetchy and distorted. Please note the noise is distorted when played in obs, and also on the recorded files (I also tried QSV hardware acceleration and software processing)
I have also an access to an intensity pro 4k (blackmagic), which had the same issue ... I plugged of course my old avermedia LGX to have a look and got same sound issue ...
I suspected a faultly mainboard and tested a gigabyte H310 and reinstalled everything : same sound issue on the 3 different devices I had tested ...
I then installed the same version of OBS (20.1.1) as my working setup to see again the same issue.
I'm actually out of ideas where the problem is coming from ... I've spent hours reinstalling drivers / windows, doing testing, and my only remaining guess is trying to change the RAM and the cpu (which could be faultly, but seems to work nicely) ...
I have a question for people that are using a 9th gen intel CPU and 3xx chipset, can you list a setup that is working correctly ?
Thanks for your feedback.
Olivier
