Video capture device issue

Hi,
After formatting my pc, I cant seem to get 2 video capture devices added. I have one camera. But i used twice this feature cause I want to have handy a different size/placement on screen. It used to work great before.

What happens now is, the first capture device works as intended. I resize, place etc. When I add a second one, it appears empty/tiny as a red very small square on the very top left of the screen capture area. And i cant resize it or fit it or anything like it. Is there a way to solve this issue?

Many thanks

Thanks. It not an instance though but a new device. I ll try record with another software to show u the issue

Windows allows only one access to a capture device at any given time. If you add additional sources, they show up as black.
To get multiple sources of the same capture device, remove all sources but one. Then add additional sources with the "add existing" option. This way OBS duplicates the video internally and they all get video.

If you need to apply filters to one instance of your source, but not to the others, create a group and put the source into that group. Then apply the filters to the group and not to the source directly. This way filters are not global for all your sources.
If you need to crop one instance but not the others, remove any crop filter. Then press and hold down the ALT key and move the handles of the source in the preview to crop. This is also applied to one instance and not all.

And I just checked on my macbook it works as expected, it adds a second capture device under THE SAME camera.
This was exactly the behaviour I had in windows before formatting my pc, and now is not working.

This is probably a difference between the webcam handling of Windows and Mac. In your video, where you add the capture device and choose "Create new", you have to choose "Add Existing" instead and choose the existing capture. This way you have 2 sources of the same capture and can proceed as I described above.

It never worked any different in Windows. If it worked for you before you formatted your PC, you probably didn't realize you actually used the "add existing" option.

This is weird, ur right.. Im pretty sure I tried it before unsuccessfully. But doesnt let me change the name. And im 100% sure it worked before formatting cause I had different names in cameras.
In MAC again works perfect now
