VHS capture problems

I'm trying to capture VHS home videos to digital. I have a working VCR and am using a USB video capture device. When I hook the VCR to a TV all is well and I can see the content on the screen. When I hook up to my laptop and open OBS I'm not getting any display of the video. I'm sure there is something quite basic in the settings which is causing this but don't know what.

For the record I'm running Windows 11 on an Acer laptop. The OBS is 29.1.3 (64 bit)

The capture device should have a program or tell you wich program you can use to actually watch the video on the computer.
Check on the capture device support for this.

Thanks for that. The program that came with it is Honestech VHS to DVD 3.0.47 and I'm having the same issues with it. No screen display. That program seems to be capturing when I press "record" but I'm not getting any preview on the screen. I can hear the soundtrack. I think Honestech are now out of business?
