Firstly let me briefly explain my setup.
A set of Pioneer DDJ's with booth out to an external mixer then a cable from the mixer into the line in on a PC (which is running OBS)
I've been streaming a radio show and recording DJ sets for years without this issue (or maybe I've just never noticed it)
When there is no audio playing there's a clear, slight static/crackly audio sound. I am testing by just streaming live on YouTube (but a private stream only I can access) and just leave it streaming whilst I check everything. I've swapped cables, took the mixer out of the equation by connecting booth out directly to line-in, I've also switched booth to master out instead, again straight to line-in. I kept going like this and the same issue to the point where I've literally got no audio inputs to the pc whatsoever and am basically streaming silence and the noise is still there. It's ever so slight but there (but enough to hear there's something wrong)
This boils it down to the PC, the line-in port or OBS. I tried 2 PC's - same issue so unless it is a complete coincidence that both PC's have dodgy line-in ports this only leaves OBS.
What could possibly be causing this problem? I tried disabling the desktop audio completely as recommended on a few videos I found but no difference. My line-in audio capture has no filters, it's just a simple input. I tried a couple of the filters like Compressor etc. but ultimately they don't do anything (other than one of them - I can't remember which) silences the audio completely.
Maybe a silly question but is there always going to be some sort of crackly sound and it will never be compete silence or does it sound to you like there's an issue too? It's driving me crazy!
