Question / Help Very Low End PC (CS:GO) - Possible even...?!

Hey guys,

my question, as the title suggests, regards whether or not my computer can handle streaming whilst playing CS:GO (mainly, but also other content planned for the future).

For the record:

- Unfortunately I cannot afford new hardware, I'm simply broke... ! :))

Here's my setup on Windows 7:

Processor: Intel E8600 Duo (3,33 GHz)
GFX: GeForce GTX 285
RAM: Corsair Value Select (3 GB)

Internet:

I'm also considering over clocking if that's a safe option.
For the stream itself I was hoping to get a 720p resolution (as lower really doesn't attract ANY viewers anymore, does it?) and maybe add a Camera scene later on. Obviously CS:GO is a loaded action paced FPS (I already lowered every Video Setting in game to low-very low) and I want to offer quality gaming, which I can personally offer... But probably not with less than 60 FPS. And that's what I am getting around without OBS running...

I was way overexcited about the streaming thing; created social media accounts, an alias, concept and everything before realizing that my PC is shit and old and I might not even be able to do it after all.

Give me good news, please ? :)

Thank you all so much in advance

Best regards

Most likely you were expecting this answer, but 720 would be impossible for your processor to encode by itself, even if you were not running a game. I'm not even sure if you could use 480 while playing a game... dual cores just can't handle that much video. If you were to get a nice 5Ghz OC then you could probably do 480, but saying as you say it's a very low end PC, it probably doesn't have adequate cooling for much of a OC.

Try doing local recordings at 480 with ultrafast preset, see what happens.

On a side note, your 3GB of RAM might run put quickly with windows and any given game open, though OBS isn't a memory hog, try to keep all other programs closes.

As for your GPU, I really don't know anything about it, and can't advise about it much other than run your games on the lowest possible textures and.probably lower your resolution too in-game

I feared as much. I don't have a proper cooling system for my Hardware. I guess I won't even attempt streaming as 480p is not something I want the viewers to go through. Thank you very much for your answer and maybe some day I can afford newer hardware and then I'll stream :)
