Question / Help Very Laggy Input

Hey all,
I'm new to OBS and trying to set it up and learn how to use it. Right now, however, I'm being hamstrung by the input lag. By this I mean that there are fields in the settings that I try to change but the time in between selecting the field and any kind of graphical response from the software is so extreme that I don't know what I'm doing.
For example: simply typing the name of a profile into the given field takes so long that by the time OBS has caught up with me it's missed several letters and I have to go back and correct the entry.. which is difficult considering that the cursor takes so long to update.
Is this normal? If not what can I do to correct it?

Thanks so much.
Cheers and have a great day.

This is not normal. The normal behavior is the input response within the OBS Studio input fields is immediate and without any delay. You have probably some other apps running that steal processor cycles or interfere with the Windows input pipeline in some way.

Thanks for the reply.
What's odd is that there is nothing out of the ordinary running in the background. In addition this computer is very powerful. Other applications, even very resource demanding applications, run just fine. I also tried using the task manager to increase the priority of OBS to no effect.
So... I'm at a loss.

Completely uninstalled, downloaded and reinstalled OBS. I'm having the same problem. Just mouse scrolling feels like an old fps game where the framerate just dropped through the floor. I have no idea what's causing this.

Nope. I disabled Fraps and MSI afterburner and I've still got the same problem. If I open the settings menu and try making changes the lag behind any inputs is so extreme that it's not functional. I can't even scroll up and down.

EDIT: It actually locks up so badly that I can't even use the mouse to access the task bar if it is hidden. I have to ctrl-alt-dlt and use the task manager to kill it.
