My old version (0.472b) of OBS was able to capture my monitor (entire desktop) with aero enabled, but now with the updated version it refuses to. What i see is a black screen.

Disabling Aero will enable monitor & window capture to perform normally, but i prefer having aero enabled since i play fullscreen games with OpenGL & Dxtory.

Please fix

OS: Windows 7
Device: Mobile Gaming Notebook
GPU: nVidia GeForce GT 650M & Integrated 4000 HD (Optimus)
CPU: i7-3720QM
Resolution: 900p

PS: I also miss seeing the blank screen (overlay preview) before i started streaming. Is there anyway to make it black again with a white colored font tooltip in the middle?

You can't capture fullscreen games with Monitor or Window capture. If you want to keep Aero enabled, don't use Monitor capture, as it performs very poorly with Aero enabled. Use Window capture and just grab the window you are trying to capture.

If you want to stream the entire desktop without a capture card, then you have to use Monitor capture with Aero enabled. And even then, it will not capture fullscreen games correctly unless they are Windowed+fullscreen.

I'm kind of confused as to what you are doing...are you capturing games using Window capture, or with DxTory? You shouldn't need DxTory to capture OpenGL games, since Game Capture can do that just fine.

I'm not trying to capture games when i have aero enabled. I'm trying to capture my desktop. Even if i had aero enabled, i don't capture my games using monitor capture. i transition over to my dxtory video capture device.

the point is, i wan't to capture my aero desktop. I don't mind it being forced to 23-30 fps.

UPDATE

I fixed the problem. I just enabled Capture Layered Windows and Compatibility Mode.
